Red Hill Hereford Stud: Breeding Excellence in the Kaimai Ranges

Located in the scenic Kaimai Ranges near Katikati, Red Hill Hereford Stud, owned by Jason and Claire Hill, has been dedicated to breeding top-quality Herefords since 1997. Over the past 12 years, they’ve transformed their operation into a fully registered stud, focusing on traits like genetic predictability, structural correctness, and high fertility.

Their herd of 50 cows is meticulously selected for optimal traits, ensuring natural calving ease without compromising birth weights. Collaborating with Ian Walsh from Falkirk Scientific Foundation in 2022, they’ve significantly reduced genetic wastage and increased the percentage of marketable animals.

All Red Hill bulls are BVD negative, vaccinated, DNA tested, and free from genetic defects, maintaining a TB C10 status. Jason and Claire are proud to contribute to the future of the Hereford breed, grateful for the support of Sean Brosnahan and Resurgam Angus in their journey.
